Toni & I in London - Oct 1991 & Oct 1993

Short trip to London, a visit to the New London Theatre - Musical CATS, a visit to Rock Circus, some sightseeing, and of course - Sticky Fingers. Packed programme, we had a great time !

Another trip in October 1993, lots of sightseeing, Covent Garden, Spitting Images, Chinatown, pubs ....  and last but not least Sticky Fingers again - and this time Bill Wyman showed up with his PA. What a great afternoon and the best way to finish our short trip.

Visit to Memphis and Graceland, Home of Elvis Presley - 02/03 April 1993

Stopping by in Memphis, watching the Ol' Man River flow, visiting the famous Beale Street and the Pyramid, spent quite some time at Graceland and had to leave already next day although there is so much more to see ... another visit is on my bucket list ....


Die Beale Street gehört zu den größten Touristenattraktionen in Memphis.
Hier finden sich unter anderem ein Hard Rock Cafe, Silky O'Sullivan's, B. B. King's Blues Club, das FedExForum und das Kaufhaus A. Schwab's im Stil der frühen Jahre.

USA Reise 1993 / USA Trip 1993

Portage, Lake Michigan & Chicago - 29/30 March 1993

St Louis, our next destination -
31 March 1993
A visit up on the Gateway Arch by tram was a must, but to me rather scary. The buildings, rivers and everything looked tiny from birds-eye-view. Before checking into our stay we passed the famous Fox Theater where so many great musicians performed, e.g. the Chuck Berry live concert 'Hail Hail Rock'n Roll' which was filmed (directed by Keith Richards) took place here.

A visit to the Missouri Botanical Garden before leaving St Louis and heading towards our next destination. All the photos are included in the Flickr album, please click on the photo with the arch.

Das erste Mal in Sri Lanka Ich musste improvisieren, da Karin und Hans bereits vorausgeflogen waren und ich den gleichen Flug nicht mehr bekommen konnte. Daher kurzerhand Air Lanka gebucht ... und irgendwo in einem arabischen Emirat umgestiegen, weiss nicht mehr, wo - jedenfalls war es nicht Dubai. Unser Mainstay war die Villa Temple Flower beim Joe. Moderate Preise, Unterkünfte einfach, aber zweckmäßig und sauber, Verpflegung gut. Von dort aus konnten wir Ausflüge quer durchs Land unternehmen, die zum Teil recht abenteuerlich ausfielen.

Zurück ging es von Colombo direkt nach Berlin, aber Schönefeld. Saukalt war's dort, noch tiefer Winter, und ich kam an nur mit Flip Flops und Leggings bekleidet ...

Trotz aller Hindernisse war es ein fabelhafter Urlaub, und es sollte nicht unser letzter Aufenthalt in Sri Lanka sein.
