Venus und Jupiter am Morgenhimmel - 27 / 28 Oct 2015

Heute und die gesamte darauf folgende Woche hatte man in der Morgendämmerung mit bloßem Auge beste Sicht auf den hellen "Morgendoppelstern" Venus und Jupiter. Jupiter befindet sich im Sternbild des Löwen, die darunter sichtbare Venus ist noch heller.

Herbie Goins †

Sad news from Norman Beaker:
"It is with great sadness I have to inform you all that a great friend and musical partner HERBIE GOINS has sadly passed away. He was a lovely guy and used to stay at my house when he was here and we loved him like one of the family. Always a fun guy to be with and a great singer and performer. He was the first singer with the Alexis Korner Blues Incorporated and had hits with his band the Nightimers. We will all miss him, but if I know Herbie he will be up there telling stories and having an apperitivo and a digestivo.
Almost a year to the day Jack Bruce passed away, October is not a month that seems to bring me good news But I have lots of memories and gratitude that I had the chance to be in their company."

Unfortunately I never had the chance to see him play with the Norman Beaker Band but friends of mine had e.g. Beryl and Jilly. Beryl posted a nice comment on FB along with a lovely photo on Herbie's visit to Darlington.

2nd of two SOLD OUT Berlin shows at Huxley's Neue Welt. The fans were in good mood as was the band and a great atmosphere came up from the beginning. SWEET played a firework of their hits, people danced and sang away, and it all turned into a big party. Much fun and a ripping good time was had by all !

"An Evening with Crosby, Stills & Nash" live in Berlin
Fantastic night at the almost sold-out Tempodrom Berlin on historic grounds. I managed to get one of the last tickets so not the best seat, nevertheless a fantastic gig which took us back to the Seventies. Excellent musicians and a great atmosphere!

Billy Joe Royal †

Singer Billy Joe Royal, best known for his pop hit “Down in the Boondocks” and a string of country singles in the 1980s, died unexpectedly in his home in North Carolina on Tuesday (06 Oct) morning. He was 73 years old.

The festival format will be similar to previous years - live performances on stage by leading performers from the UK, Ireland & Europe including our very special American guest Joe Wright who will be making a return visit to our festival having played in 2008. born in Jackson, Michigan, Joe started playing Hawaiian music when he was 8......taking up the steel guitar in 1962...and performing a wide variety of music.... Country, Rock and Jazz at clubs and venues throughout the USA....He is probably best known for touring and recording with Charley Pride and for the production of steel guitar tuition courses.

A Trade area will be set up to display instruments, sound equipment, accessories, tuition courses, books CD's DVD' and tapes........

Players on both days will be.......... Joe Wright, USA making a welcome return to our festival. He will be supported by fellow countryman Mickey Adams from ~Texas along with our friends from Europe: Mark Horn - Germany, Hans de Jong - Netherlands, Lionel Wendling - France Peter and Matte Mylund - Finland. From England we welcome back Gerry Hogan, Dave & Carol Kirk, Dave Hayward, Kevan Bartholomew, Francois Deville & Hopefully Arthur James & Linda his wife on vocals. Representing Scotland will be Willie Gamble & Donny Johnston while Ireland wil be represented by the country's foremost steel players Richard Nelson, along with fellow association member Paul Brennan....... also Aidan Cunningham & hopefully Percy Robinson & Frankie Lane........ We may also have a visit from Jeff Spencer - Brisbane, a well respected Austrilian player, Compare for the weekend - Tony Mc Grath - Waterford.
