Brief Review:"Bright lights, big city", this title applies certainly to Rotterdam, the city with the largest port in Europe.
I arrived on 22nd and enjoyed exploring Rotterdam as the band had a day off. Walked for miles and miles although it was freezing cold. The Luxor Theater was located just across the impressing Erasmus-Bridge, from where I had a fantastic view at the illuminated skyline. Although there was a cold wind blowing from either side!A sit-down gig, my seat was not too good, but the show was excellent and made up for it. Bill and Eddie Floyd gave tribute to 'the wicked' Wilson Pickett, who passed away some days ago, Eddie appeared to be touched and dedicated one of his songs to Wilson. The encore with "Spell" and "Tear it up" was something to remember. Standing ovations and huge bouquets of flowers for each band member at the end.
I bought the CD "Groovin" which was missing in my CD collection and said bye-bye to the friendly guy at the CD stall who left the RKs tour to work with another band, but we would meet him again in autumn. Later Bill was very much in demand for photos and signatures at the stage door where a bunch of hard core fans waited patiently. Very brief chats this time as everybody was eager to get home as it was freezing cold! The band members were rushed to their bus and made their way back to Amsterdam.
