02 April 2008
After a short break I drove up to Hamburg to see Albert and the boys play at the club. They were brilliant, and - almost a tradition in this venue - legendary Kingsize Taylor from Liverpool - joined the band for 2 songs "Slow Down" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy".
Elio had a special day, his parents and sister Guiseppina were among the audience, and he dedicated one song to them (they can be seen on one of the photos in the FlickR album). Nice to meet up with both ladies later, we should meet again on other gigs in the UK, lovely people.
Next to us stood a bloke from the north who had never seen Hogan's Heroes before but was a die-hard fan of Emmylou's. After the 3rd song he told me that this was already worth the entrance fee. When Albert played his warhorse 'Country Boy', he got hooked for good!
Albert dedicated the last song "Tear it up" to his old friend Tony Sheridan and wished him well. Tony has always been popular in Germany and was very sick.
The boys had loads of stuff to sign later. Great night although I had to walk back in heavy rain.
