Albert Lee, Noergelbuff Goettingen - 13 Oct 2016

Unfortunately I had to miss out this gig, but here's a review from newspaper "Goettinger Tageblatt" (in German, brief translation below).

Göttinger Tageblatt: Albert Lee at Noergelbuff

"Cheerful rock'n roll, relaxed country, spanking rockabilly - Albert Lee revived the US American music of the Fifties and Sixties at Noergelbuff. The guitarist and his band are currently on the road to do their „European Celebration Tour“.

Lee's soft and pleasant voice is just sort of accessory. The audience clapped their hands mainly after his long instrumental parts where the band members could demonstrate their technical ability. Lee impresses with his unusual style of play - thumb and forefinger hold the plectrum while the other fingers pick the strings.
Normally John Thomas sets the right course on keyboards during the rock'n roll numbers but Lee switched over to the piano for a couple of numbers. "I'm happy that there is space onstage" he joked and intoned a melancholic song.
Towards the end of the show the 72-year-old guitarist introduced the band members on bass, drums and keyboards one by one - but left himself open.  "And Albert Lee on guitar" someone in the audience shoutet out. That's what the rest of the crowd was waiting for to give another big hand."

Prior to the gig Albert was taken to an interview at the local radio station CITY RADIO Goettingen (English/German).
