Lots of young and older musicians attended the clinic, some brought their instruments along to get them signed later by Albert. As a warm-up, Albert played some excellent tunes from his two instrumental solo albums. As always, it was interesting to listen to his stories. He talked about his first instruments, how he started to play the piano first and then guitar, remembered his early days in London and the clubs where it all began, the bands he'd been with and the early tours with Larry Parnes Stables backing all kinds of artists.
Also explained his finger-style and hybrid picking technique that influenced country guitarists worldwide, demonstrated licks, stops, delays, explained gadgets, strings, and his old Fender amp - not forgetting to tell the old Eddie Cochran anecdote.
Talked about the different guitars he had played until he started collaborating with the Ernie Ball Company ending up with the Ernie Ball Music Man signature guitar especially made for him.
He also mentioned the upcoming CD he recorded with James Burton and Junior Brown when being asked for future projects and answered patiently all kind of questions.
To top it all he closed the clinic doing a solo version of COUNTRY BOY.
Long queues later, everybody wanted a photo, a signature or just a handshake.

All sound problems were sorted, excellent performance from the first minute. I managed to get to the front to take some better photos. Most of the afternoon clinic's participants stayed over for the evening show. Also, I noticed a lot of musicians in the audience. Gavin was brilliant on GLORY BOUND. This song can be found on the CD "Come on and Dance" by Gavin Povey And The Good Rockin' Daddies, released 30 March 2008 by Gavin's own company HIDEDOUT RECORDS.
The new song in the set Leave the Candle (written by Gary Brooker, also credited to G Brooker/Sinfield) was done excellently by Peter. After the encore, the band left the stage to frenetic applause ...Setlist Set 1 (maybe not always in the right order)
