Bert Weedon, 10 May 1920 – 20 April 2012
Influential guitarist Bert Weedon passed away on Friday 20 April at the age of 91.His best-selling Play in a Day tutorial guide has influenced a long list of legendary British musicians, says Neville Marten, editor of Guitar Techniques Magazine :
“With ‘students’ that number Eric Clapton, Brian May, Sting, Pete Townshend, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and countless others, Weedon could well be described as the most genuinely influential guitarist of all time.”
A competent performer and recording artist in his own right, Bert’s first charting single was Guitar Boogie Shuffle, peaking at number 10 in May 1959.
