The Tivoli was built in 1936 as a cine/theatre and the tradition of showing both films and live stage shows continues to the present day. Big audiences for major shows were traditional at the Tivoli and the theatre has once again achieved the status of a major 500 seat venue. Local people enjoy the finest and latest films available and with full surround sound. The Tivoli is justly proud that for a theatre of its size it has brought productions to this area which would not have been thought possible back in 1993. The feedback from artistes and agents backs up the claim to this phenomenal success.

My brief review: The Tivoli Wimborne is a beautiful little theatre, some may remember that Hogan's Heroes last DVD was recorded here in December 2010, not suprising that it was a complete sell-out. As in 2010, they were funny with cameras and I was just able to take one or two quick shots with a poor result. The support was done by The Hound Dogs, a young rockabilly trio, bass/guitar/drums, who played Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly and Bill Haley stuff, also some Johnny Cash and Elvis tunes were included - a remarkable bunch who also did some acrobatics during their performance.
After a short break, Albert and the heroes came on, good to see that Gerry felt a little bit better. The band played the same set as in Bideford, mentioning how much they liked to play this beautiful venue. Albert was quite talkative and told stories from the old days between the songs, e.g. from his time with the Everly Brothers. Standing ovations at the end of the show, and long queues later at the signing table. It was good to have a few words with the boys, I learned that they are still busy working on their new album which may be finalized next spring (at the earliest) and will feature a lot of new stuff. They had 3 more gigs before their well-deserved holidays.
We are looking forward to seeing them again on their extensive tour next spring including dates in the UK, Ireland, and the continent.
