On Mon 21 June (available on BBC player until 27 June) Albert chose 2 of his favourite records:1) Eddie Cochran - Summertime Blues
Albert remembered when he met Eddie for the first time (both played for Larry Parnes Stables) and told the anecdote about Eddie borrowing his amp. Also said the young guitar players learned through Eddie how to string up their guitars.
2) Don Henley - The Heart of the Matter
A's favourite song of Don's whom he met on a benefit in L.A.
On Tue 22 June Albert chose:
1) Buddy Holly - Oh Boy
and told the story how he happened to run into the Crickets in 1973, Rick Grech was with them and told Albert that they were looking for someone to fill in for Glen D Hardin who was to play with Elvis. So Albert came to work with the Crickets ... and became an honorary Cricket to the day.
2) Steve Winwood - Back in the Highlife again
Albert said he chose this track because of the great mandolin playing
On Wed 23 June Albert chose:
1) Peggy Lee - The folks who live on the hill
Albert says he loves the song, it makes him homesick every time he hears it, he says this record has such a fantastic mood.
2) Bruce Hornsby - The way it is
Bruce Hornsby is one of his favourite artists, he says he'd like to play with him one day and he loves the way he plays the piano. Albert started to play the piano in his early days, and this is the way he would love to play. Also, Bruce covers a great range of music.
I really enjoyed listening to Albert's comments, also a thank you to Beryl - you're so right.

On Thur 24 June Albert chose:
1) Randy Newman - I love L.A.
another 'homesick' song Albert also said he loves the great arrangement of the song.
2) Ike & Tina Turner - River deep mountain high
Albert likes Phil Spector's 'Wall of Sound', would have loved to play on such a recording,
likes the guitar work by Don Peake and the drums (name of the drummer escaped me ..)
.. and the last one on Fri 25 June:
1) Rag Mama Rag - The Band
Great country blues tune, he likes the fiddle, also the piano played by Garth Hudson.
He tells a lot more about his career covering country, rock and blues, about 'Arkansas Traveller' which changed a lot for him and much more.
2) Bonnie Raitt - I can't make you love me
which was a big hit for Bonnie. Albert likes her version of this song. Also telling bits and pieces about his career, that it's now the 50th year being on the road, having lots of work to do and even more coming up.
He says his fingers are still working although the voice struggles a bit from time to time ;-)
